Sankofa 26'
This collection returns to my earliest memories of Puerto
Rico—sun-warmed streets, salt in the air, and the quiet
poetry of wrought iron. What rose to the surface most
vividly were the ornate rejas, intricate iron grills curling
across windows and balconies like lines of ancestral script.
Forged by the hands of those who came before us, these
symbols are more than decoration — they are guardians
of memory. Each curve and crossing carries devotion,
resilience, and inheritance. They remind us that the
present is not born alone; it is shaped, protected, and
made possible by the past.
